Call me avoidant or emotionally immature, but there are situations in which I'd prefer to be ghosted. If a person with whom I have been on one moderately enjoyable date goes AWOL, I would rather not have to come up with a polite response to being told exactly why they don't like me enough to do it again.

Don't get me wrong, communication is important! We owe it to those we are romantically involved with to be decent to them, and personally, I don't like to leave anyone hanging. However, there can be a fine line between good manners and being annoying, as proven by a recent tweet that has sparked some fierce debate.

When a man complained about how his date had broken things off with him by disclosing that they had found someone else, opinions were split on whether this had been the right move. It's not easy to look for somebody special in the age of dating apps.
